BRYCE IVES
Bryce Ives is a passionate and highly regarded creative leader, providing professional and innovative advice, guidance and drive on creative projects for organisations as diverse as the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, the Foundation for Young Australians, the Student Youth Network (SYN), the Royal Children’s Hospital Education Institute, the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia and C31 Melbourne.
Bryce holds a Postgraduate Degree in Performance Creation (Directing) from the Victorian College of the Arts. He is in constant demand as a theatre director, recent work includes Lottie the Musical (OzMade Musicals 2010), Chants des Catacombes (Short and Sweet Cabaret Festival 2010), Trajectory/Divergence (VCA Animatures and Directors Season 2010), Goat Town (VCA Directors Season 2010), I Heart Frankston the Musical (Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2010), The History Boys (Cromwell Road Season 2009), Call Girl the Musical (Chapel off Chapel Season 2009 and Workshop Season 2008), You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown (Cromwell Road Season 2008). He has previously directed successful productions of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and The Witches of Eastwick in Geelong.
Regarded across Australia as an inspirational public speaker, thinker and consultant in the areas of youth engagement, creativity, digital literacy and new media, Bryce was described in the Australian Newspaper as representing “a generational shift in how media is being produced and managed.“
His achievements in the Australian media sector include being the first General Manager of SYN Youth Media, leading the organization through a period of exceptional growth. SYN is now recongised and celebrated as an outstanding example of what young Australians can achieve on their own terms.
In 2007, Bryce was charged with leading the ABC’s Heywire initiative, eventually becoming the programs Executive Producer. This meant Bryce worked with incredible young storytellers around Australia producing packages for ABC Radio, ABC TV and presenting the annual Heywire Youth Issues Forum in Canberra.
Previous roles include serving as Executive Producer of Youth Television Programming for C31 Melbourne & Geelong, serving as a Board Member of The Community Broadcasting of Australia and Express Media, Chairman of The National Youth Media Network.
On the screen and on the air, Bryce has presented radio programs on ABC Radio, 3RRR and SYN FM, and has fronted a range of Australian television programs on C31 Melbourne, Foxtel and ABC TV.
Bryce’s efforts and work has been acknowledged as Young Citizen of the Year for the City of Ballarat, Television Producer of the Year for the CBAA Awards and many awards for his media work.
